Our Story
Why we started, what we decided not to do, and who we are for.
Why we exist
Egnatia Platinum Finance was founded in 2011 by people who had spent their careers watching good borrowers get declined by systems that could not read a story. A contractor with three years of excellent but irregular income. A family business with one loss year and a clear explanation for it. A landlord whose portfolio did not fit the box.
None of those are bad credit risks. They are cases that need a person to read the file.
What we decided not to do
We do not run a branch network, because a branch is a cost the client pays for and rarely uses. We do not sell products on commission, because that shapes advice. We do not use a scoring engine as the final word, because the cases we are best at are exactly the ones a score gets wrong.
Who we are for
Clients whose position takes more than one screen to describe. Businesses that have outgrown a fintech app but do not want a corporate relationship manager who changes every eighteen months. Institutions that need execution certainty and a credit officer who answers.
Where we work
We are based at Gatwick and lend across the United Kingdom. We work with clients in Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific, usually where there is a UK connection — property, a business, or family here.
The name
The Via Egnatia was the Roman road that connected the Adriatic to Byzantium — the route by which goods, credit and contracts moved between west and east for six centuries. It seemed a reasonable thing to name a firm after.
