On explaining a decline

Most lenders decline with a code. We think that is a failure of nerve. If a case does not work, the borrower deserves to know why, so that they can either fix it or stop wasting time applying elsewhere with the same problem.

The trouble with instant decisions

An instant decision is only impressive if it is right. For a salaried borrower with clean credit and a standard property, instant is fine. For everyone else, instant means the system found something it could not parse and defaulted to no.

Why we do not pay commission on product sales

Because the moment the person recommending a product earns more from one option than another, the advice has a thumb on the scale. It is a small structural decision that removes a large category of problem.
